Pas de Deux

First position. Heels together. That’s all I needed to see before you danced away with my heart. Yours and mine, entangled together in an enchanting Pas de Deux, a dance for two. Now, would it be too forward of me to lean in towards you and kiss you gently on the cheek? You lean forward towards me and your leg shoots up in a splendid arabesque. Cupid’s arrows did their best when it came to writing our love story. The lines of your arms and legs mirror mine, and the lines on my hand don’t even know where to begin to tell the story of our lives. The dance continues with the lift and your solo. So now I know the dance company is so lucky to have you. I’m lucky to have you. I place my hand on the small of your back as I roll you to my left then pirouette; you spin like a top that wobbles but never really falls over, cuz my love for you may falter, but it won’t ever end. Perpetual bliss, lost in this world, lost in your eyes, and lost in the song of the symphony our breaths sing, along with the harmony of the rise and fall of our chests.

The moment my heart first danced, the moment I realized I loved you, was the only time I’ve ever been on pointe.
